Benefits of wheatgrass

Growing and juicing your own wheat sprouts is not only decorative and fun, but also highly nutritional. Wheatgrass is full of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The juice has many health benefits due to the high concentration of chlorophyll, Vitamins B-12, B-6, K & C, and beta-carotene. Here are just a few:

• detoxifies the body
• improves digestion
• increases energy
• prevents illnesses such as cancer and diabetes
• boosts the immune system

Many wheatgrass fans grow it themselves. It takes about two weeks from planting to harvest time. People who grow wheatgrass usually blend the grass into a juice and add it to smoothies or other drinks. If you do not want to grow it yourself, you can find wheatgrass juice and dried wheatgrass powder or pills in almost any health food store.

The most potent wheatgrass I have found contains the roots and the blades. I have been a wheatgrass enthusiast for some time and while visiting a health food store I discovered an organic wheatgrass that combines the roots with the blades. It is the only wheatgrass powder in the world, using this technique. It is Aeroponically grown, soil free, fungus free, pollution free; grown in 100% purified oxygen. The cold drying process maintains enzymes and nutrients so that when blended with water they are live.
The roots contain cancer fighting nutrients not found in the blades. Dr. Yasuo Hotta, biologist from UC San Diego isolated a compound called P4D1, an enzyme protein that helps repair damaged DNA. P4D1 was found to do two things in the human body. It is the first known substance to actually stimulate repair of the DNA molecule. It is possible that disease cells can be repaired with P4D1 so that when they reproduce they will actually produce good cells. P4D1 has also been shown in laboratory tests to eat the protein sheath off a cancer cell so that the white blood cells can attack and destroy them.
In combining the roots with the blades, the taste is more like a “green tea” and is not strong and nauseous as traditional juiced wheatgrass. You can drink this straight, no need to mix with anything else to hide the taste, just enjoy wheatgrass! Even kids love it!
